The Polish Farmer's Society was formed after a large influx of Poles immigrated to this area in the early 1900's. This land looked good to them after the war Europe was no longer safe for their life style. Many of the Poles didn't speak English at the time and so, the early board meetings and elections in Sumpter had interpreters to explain the issues to this group, so they could vote. They formed their Farmer's Society to socialize and stay in touch with each other, and to observe and keep their culture and point of view alive in their new country. Remember back in those days, agriculture was the main stay in Sumpter Township, so it would have been a natural for the Polish Farmer's to band together. So as things evolve, a national group called the Polish National Alliance (PNA) came into being. The Polish Farmer's Society applied for a charter to the PNA and received it in 1941. A copy of their original charter hangs in the Sumpter PNA Hall. Before and after the group was granted their charter, they began to raise funds for a building in which they could meet and hold social events such as weddings, reunions, anniversaries and etc. Later, when the group had raised the money, it built an addition on to the building and began to add weekly bingo and rentals for outside events, to help offset the expenses of maintaining the building.

Unfortunately, as is the case so many times, as the group aged, and the youth didn't have the former generation's enthusiasm, the group dwindled and the sparse few members left could no longer handle the cost of maintenance or expend the physical labor themselves to keep the enterprises going. In 1994 they approached Sumpter Township, and asked them if they would be interested in taking this building as a donation, as long as it was used as a banquet hall for the convenience of the people of Sumpter. The Township said yes and in October of 1994, the Sumpter PNA Hall was born.
Since the Township has received the Sumpter PNA Hall, it has had the privilege of hosting the tribute to the Tuskegee Airman that was hosted by The Sumpter Progressive League, Brunch with Bach hosted by the Belleville Council of Arts, Thanksgiving dinners hosted by the Sumpter Police Department, and of course wedding receptions, anniversary parties, retirement parties, graduation parties and reunions.
